Happy 75th Birthday, Sister Elaine Marie!

I just wanted to let you know that tomorrow is a special day here – Sr. Elaine Marie Roggenbuck, who has been serving at St. Anne’s for over 40 years is celebrating her 75th birthday!  If you’d like to send birthday greetings or a promise of prayer, I will gladly pass those on to her.

  9. My Birthday Thoughts…

In 1940, on the 9th of July,
A baby girl gave out her first cry,
With God in her heart, this child did thrive
And, today, Sister Elaine turns seventy-five.

    Congratulations are truly due
For this Sister’s talents, both old and new,
It is her smile, so very cheery
That brings forth the sunshine on days that are dreary.

I’m sure there are things ’bout her we’ll never know
It’s evident Sister Elaine can bestow
    Her wonderful musical ability
And the tender care of her charge, Gracie.

    Piano, accordion, organ and horn
Implanted by God when our Sister was born,
Embroidering, needlework both awesome and funny
Accounting skills, keeping charge of money.

But, I have to confess, Sister Elaine makes my day
When she lets forth a hiccup, as we sit and pray,
I can not help smiling, I think it is neat…

How she rolls her eyes when offered a sweet.

I will offer up prayers for Sister Elaine Marie
That she will live to be one hundred and three,
And, through St. Matthew I will pray to our Lord
That he will meet our Sister at her reward.

I will pray that her books will balance always
That she’ll never be troubled by a malaise,
Sister, please know this birthday wish brings a “thank you”
But, most of all, please know how much we love you!

  10. HAPPY BIRTH-DAY! Though my life had a little downturn along the way – it is gradually getting better and easier. Health has improved and am using my music skills to provide our Benedict Village with a group of Handbells (they enjoy it much) and now a choral group. With your accordion skills you may even be able to get some of your beautiful voices form a choral group. We meet twice a month. Guess we are all surprised that they do so well. Nice to hear great four part music. Now even have a church singer and men’s choral group. Great addition.

Your picture looks as though life has been good to you – I presume you celebrated St. Benedict yesterday. I think of you every time I read one of Richard Rohr’s works – a great Franciscan – as you are.

Blessings and have a lovely day.

    • A Blessed Birth-day. Seems my first comment didn’t go through and I don’t know how to cancel it.

You still look younger than 75. Actually it is a nice age when your spirit is as great as yours is.
      Have a wonderful, wonderful day!!!!!!

My days with you were great.
